all Linux distributions can play MP3 files as long as you have the correct player and the decoder. Here's how you can install "XMMS", a Winamp look-alike audio player for Linux:

Go to "Add/Remove Program" menu, and search for xmms from the search box. After that, it will ask you whether you want to install it or not. Once you say "yes", it will download and install XMMS on your computer. You can then access it from Applications > XMMS.
Now headbang to your MP3s and have fun!
