Recently upon his return from a foreign visit Dr. Yunus expressed that he was "mentally ready" to join politics in Bangladesh, if the people and the civil society of the country wished so. This petition is a humble effort by fellow Bangladeshis to voice support for the Nobel Laureate, encouraging him to join politics.

It may very well be that some of you do not share the view that he has the making of a fine Head of State. This petition does not seek to support the uncontested acceptance of Dr. Mohammed Yunus as Prime Minister or President of the People's Republic Of Bangladesh. Instead, what we are asking of Dr. Yunus is to begin his work politically and attest to us that he is indeed a capable leader for the country.

We request you to be a part of this petition by leaving your name, your present occupation or the area of study you are undertaking if you are a student ( IN A POST IN THIS THREAD ). Additionally you may wish to leave a message. We intend to arrange for this petition attached with your details and messages to be communicated to Dr. Mohammed Yunus on the 21st of February 2007.
