a topic reply expects personal view based on experiences of each individaul, which is variable. so, my conclusion was my sole view reflection, which is never meant for anyone to sum up for closing remark for the topic. the Topic asked my opinion "which is best?" It is true that this is not a subject to debate and does not fall into those categories but it has been posted and many members are debating.
My point is not to prove you wrong but I am just going by the rules of debates as this is the debate forum. Your post was interesting and has much good information but this is totally advisory and is no justification to any earlier posts as most people posted based on their understanding about friends and not the actual meaning.
I agree with you that a wife can be a good friend and also life partner but the questioner was very clearly asking friends or husband/wife and in this case we should be separating these two relationships and answering best of our knowledge.
A partner can be a friend and much more but will always be called/known by one name not another.
