The use of animals fell from the 1970s. Allthough, in 2005 the number of procedures involving animals rose. Recent rises are mainly due to the use of genetically-modified animals in research into human genetic illnesses.

Supporters of animal experimentation say it has played a part in almost every major medical breakthrough over the last century. They also argue that it will be essential to further scientific progress in combating suffering from diseases like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and HIV. Some argue that, since humans are superior to animals it is justifiable to use animals in laboratory works.
Opponents of animal research question such claims, contesting whether results derived from experiments on animals can be applied to humans. On the issue of whether techniques like computer modelling can replace animals, opponents argue that scientists are failing to move beyond outdated procedures, while supporters argue that animals remain essential, with other tests unable to replicate the operation of a biological system.

However, what do u guyz think about it? Lets debate on it. Are you for it or against it? Do u think animals should be used in laboratory works or not?

first anD foremost reason... howcome u r sure the chemical u r using on the animal is usable on me...i mean cow can digest grass but not me...can i??
again... if u say tht, both have similar patterns anD buildup (thts the main reason to use animals i guess) .. thn my ques is, its a small part u r talking about...but the whole system is not..anD the compositin is in whole... like, if i disturb my sleep, thts gonna give me pimples, if i have n upset stomach. thts also gonna give me pimples, agai if i have too much dandurff tht can also give me pimples... so whn u r gonna gimme a medicine or a cure for tht- animal tested... i dont think i m gonna trust u as the composition of a human anD the composition of an animal is not the same.

thn the solutoin is tht u have to use a human body or alive ppl to xperiment on...i might sound cruel... but i trust on tht better.

when a tiger hunts a deer, does it take it as it's younger brother ? ... animal testing is done for our own survival. if we dont know how a new medicine is going to work on us, how would we cure ourselves

yes, we are a superior and intelligent creatures and we should take care of lasser creatures, but that doesnt mean we dont have to use them for our benifit. Total animal population er to 0.1% o animal testing and experimentation e jay na. so dosh ta kothay ? :s

experiment on animals for the benefit of human beings is not something bad. kintu animal gula ke jotota shomvob kom koshto deya uchit experiment er shomoy. r almost extinct howa animal niye experiment kora uchit na.
