Date of Birth: in certificate and in realilty

We, Bangladeshis have a disturbing notion of hiding our original date of birth (or should i say death of birth! ) in the certificate and steal a year or two from our age so that we will get more years of salary in service. Well, I had no say in it because in my case, this was done by my parents without me being matured enough to think freely.

I'm sure there are many of you praticing the same notion as well. Now that you have grown enough to think about it, what are your thoughts? Was that ethical?

hehe,I actually forced my mother to give my real DOB on my passport.she was against it;all my cousins have done this(changing DOB).It's unethical and corrupt and quite unfair.
I mean now that I 'm being honest about this everyone else might not be and she/he might stay at their jobs a little longer.Honesty doesn't pay always.

my date of birth is original,but a year has been reduced.everyone around me reduced two years..
personally i hate this thing.but if all my batchmates ended up gaining two job years more than me that would be unfair too..so in the end i consented to this.nowadayz birth registrations are being ensured,so i hope that will stop this very disturbing and weird trend of datechanging.

i have a totally different scenerio for which my birth date was changed nd i am not willing to discuss that in this forum or with anyone per say.
anyway, my age was reduced one year ..
EXCLUDING my reason ... for all the others (Bangali cultural reason ?) .. especially the reason that habijabi mentioned: "we will get more years of salary in service," is honestly .. wrong. i mean, it is kind of like doing it for ur own advantage nd as Gemini said .. it infringes ur original identity. in some cases, however, people may be bound to change their age for whatsoever reasons .. nd even if that is for a personal gain .. it is something totally different. i, personally, did not want to change my DOB .. but it had to be done .. so yea, i really had no choice.

My age is reduced by 2 years(almost).My birthday is also changed,( i don't want to talk about it,my parents must be gone nuts at that time), i just think it is one of the most stupid thing to do, there may be some reasons for it, but still i don't support it.

Hmm...Amar birth Certificate e jei boyosh ase...oita S.S.C. deya hoto naki thik jani na...S.S.C dey nai, so bolte parchi na...but amar Canadian Passport e birth year date thik ei rakhse but month ta ettu edik odik hoise...bepar nah...ei passport toh public dekhtese na, and I always use my real date of birth everywhere except in university....cause uni. te passport e ja ase oitai use korte hoy...and eta temporary, so I don't think eta kono problem...
