such titles depend a lot on the actions of the party.While BNP has always referred to Ziaur Rahman as a martyr Sheikh Mujib has always been called the Bangabandhu by his party members.Cannot recall the AL ever referring to Sheikh Mujib as a martyr,always as Bangabandhu.

obviously not ,the people have also called him Father of the Nation.But I guess they just forgot to refer to him as a martyr.what else could have had happened?
I have seen people and AL pressing demands to regard Sheikh Mujib as the Father of the Nation(Jatir Pita) not call him Shaheed Sheikh Mujib.

I wasn't born at the time of Zia's rule and death so was it the press or party members who started referring Zia as a shaheed?I believe calling Ziaur Rahman a martyr is an initiative of BNP.

hehe bro I have the same question as your last one.The definition of martyr doesn't suit for heads of state or governments who were killed in coups.It's a norm for party members to refer to their executed leaders as martyrs and this isn't exclusively for political parties in BD alone.

original definition of saheed is the person(s) who have been killed in a bight/battle/war for protecting the religion ! it has nothing to do with nationalism.

if u want to term any of these two , you'll have to use the word 'martyr' , not saheed !
