now come to the 1st... do you think its something related about eng medium ? do these eng medium schools provide posh-cars to drive madly and to violate traffic rules and sometime kill people over road ?

I am confused. Frankly Spekaing, I am from a typical bengali familiy. My father was not [ ans is not] able to provide me a car to make some fun with frnds and he doesnt support this to.

I thik we are talking about education system in perspective of education method.... not by some "cool dude" atitude.

AND TO SPEAK THE TRUTH... I AM FAILED TO REALISE WHY ABOVE MENTIONED THINGS ARE "FUN" WHICH ONLY CAN BE GOT FROM ENGLISH MEDIUM??

THEY ARE FUN NOT AT ALL. THEY ARE THE THINGS THAT ANYONE CAN CAN DO WITH ENOUGH MONEY.

really enjoyed the views from different people. Well, I voted for English Medium.

I studies in both the medium. SSC in bangla and HSC in english. So, I think I know the difference better. I feel very comfortable with english medium, but most of the students don't. The coz of this is that, from the very beginning of school life, english has been treated as a very complicated subject to the students. They take it as something impossible to conquer, teachers create fear in them instead of creating confidence.

Learning english doesn't only need grammar, but also the environment is needed. Any media for english is very helpful to improve his skills in it. I used to see cartoons a lot and ask the meaning of unknown words to my dad, he helped me a lot. I also go through the dictionary everyday, its my habit.

And about behaviour and manner thing, its completely dependent on the nurturing process by the parents. and also the influence of the persons he is mixing with. Medium doesn't have any influence on this respect.

Accent will differ with geographical influences, don't blame anyone for it.

english medium'a pore je taka thaka amon chinta prothombaar dekhlam!!....even nowadawys there are students studying in high graded english medium schools on Scholarships....ive seen it in my school....

I didn't have much idea abt english medium schools nd their methods of education before. Now after reading your posts I'm learning about it more. I was in Bangla medium until I moved to NY in 2000(after taking the SSC exam).

Anyway, I hav couple of questions.
Do english medium schools offer Bangla Courses?
Do they teach you Bangla literature or grammar?

some of them try to teach them bangla, but i can assure you that it has a little effect

oye!...english medium school do offer bangla courses....for one thing...it is absolutely necessary to take bangla as a subject in ur o level course!...
and yes like you all bangla mediums...we even grew up reading "amar boi" and " bangladesher choi reetu"...and now high up...we're doing robindronath!!! ...[no it is good...]

that sounds good..but wht abt grammar ?? do you ppl read enough bengali grammar ?? do you have to write bengali essays and stuffs ?
