jealousy - that is the key. why do people feel jealous? i think it comes from their inferiority complex (according to Newton's third law ).

^ I agree.there are some other factors too.
Lets say person A is a cousin of person of B.A does well in his exams and is tremendously happy while B does not perform really well at all.Some relative of both A and B will compare the both and praise A while making bad comments towards B.B will be hurt and will automatically feel envious and jealous towards A.

i think its not genetical.....its just our social structure.....a bangali growin up within egyptians most likely wud not b jealous.....an egyptian growin up within bangalis might....

in our society....the son of a frnd of a frnd of a frnd gets a latest model car...n our prntz make a point of telling us that piece of information a million times during the day......which in effect causes us 2 hate that ****** with the car n b jealous.....n as there r ups n downs in life...sumday u ll get a nicer car...n the word wud get 2 the other guys ears...n HE wud get jealous...this cycle goes on n on.....nothing we can do abt it other than personal level

I just don't get how someone can get jealous by seeing someone else happy!
So I fail my exam..and he passes. To? Shey pass korse because well..he did better. Maybe he studied better than I? Oita niye jealous hoyle to my mark won't go up. Oboshsho feeling a little sad about my own mark is a different thing. :s

And yes amader society te eshob reshareshi ache. We have our parents to thank for carrying it on ar ki (bitter truth). I really really dislike it so amare bolte ashle ami shoja saaf boli "amake tejjo kore ore adopt kore nao. Tailei to jhamela shesh ". Kothay kaaj dae usually. But I don't feel envy towards that certain person because that's pointless. Kar ki ase na ase ta diye amar ki bap!!
