Its common in Canada to mock about Americans, now I won't say Canadians are racist. Quote:

You are judging the whole nation by some Bangladeshi people living abroad who thinks all black people are drug dealers. Come on Some of the people living abroad suffer from complexity and do all sorta groupings and stuff and spread rumors about their own country. I doubt their social standard there. They are the one giving wrong impressions about our country.
Now the younger generation seeing these assumes stuff. I would say you guys have not seen Dhaka properly, otherwise you wouldn't comment that racism exists among the entire nation. People from all districts live in Dhaka, now I haven't seen any racist thing. Quote: |

Take a hard look around you and try to figure out whether we are an exclusive jaati or not. How open are we about embracing people from other cultures? How comfortable are we with the idea of interracial/interfaith relationships, for one thing? |

Most of the Bangladeshi people living abroad doesn't think that way. There are very few who does. Now you can't say Bangladeshi people think like that. I know what you are taking about - Its not fair judging the whole nation by a small number of people. Quote:

This issue is a bit common in most nations.
Chinese, Italians , British, Polish and many more - what do you think some of them will react if someone from them marries a Bangladeshi? So why should we the only one to be blamed?
Its not a simple thing many factors are involved here - language, culture and religion plays a major role here. Me or my parents have no problem with interracial/interfaith relationships, but I will try to avoid it cause I feel more comfortable with my mother-tongue, culture and all the weird stuff Bangladeshi girls do |

when I say Bangladeshis are less racist than other people of other nations it's not a racist comment. It's kind of a fact.
I fail to see where I am being racist.
| // if it's a fact, then give me numbers . Quote: |
well yes. It's just I think a Bangladeshi might be more friendly to a Dutch in our country than a Dutch to a Bangladeshi in their country.
| i don't think i agree with that. Quote: |
I don't regard our race is superior to all others.Just better in some aspects. Not the nation.Just the people.
| Definition of Racism = the belief that some races of people are better than others. Quote:

It's a separation issue..that has been around for ages, and if I remember correctly back in the '90s most Quebecois voted against it. And yes, while it's true that over there it's necessary to know French, (hey we even have to take the French class at least once in highschool) espcially the more North you go. But hey, Canada as a whole is a very multicultural country and thus very tolerant of every race Whereas in Bangladesh the issue couldn't be more different. As a nation, we're very exclusive and close-minded towards others. And no matter what you say, it is a hard fact | i agree with u. Quebec er ajke theke problem na. it's always been like that even during World War 1 ei problem chilo.
also, i've seen many people in my family nd also jader emni chini especially aunties nd uncles, they do not like black people. i don't know why. amar best friend, for instance, is dating a black guy nd she's Bengali but even though her parents don't know about that, they think that black guys r scary nd that they might rob them . they even changed the area they live in. i think it's very stupid but yet, it's fact . anyway, that doesn't mean i think ALL Bengalis r racists cuz i don't think i am. so, i don't agree when u said hard fact i'm not telling u to NOT love ur country. there is nothing wrong in being patriotic. but that doesn't mean it gives u the privilege to put down other nations by calling us friendlier or better than other people. u don't know that for a fact. it's just ur views.
as for me, i believe we're all equal. to me, humanity comes before race.
ami Dhakar khbr janina. my views r based on what i see happening where i live. nd yes, the Bangladeshi people who live abroad came from Bangladesh in the first place. when people go abroad for the first time, they don't take the social change positively most of the time. that is probably because of what they hear from people around them.
anyway, as i was talking about my best friend. take her for example. before she used to live at Boynton Beach, Florida, nd went to an all Black school. there, people were friendly with her from the very first day. but recently, her parents shifted to a white area. so, now she goes to a white school, where she still hasn't made any friends. nd trust me, she's one of the most extroverted people i've met in my life. she always takes social change well cuz she likes people but i was shocked when SHE told me that akhono ore sathe keo kotha bole nai .
the history of white people = they r racists. to be honest with u, i don't really know what my take is on that cuz i don't have numbers .
interfaith nd interracial stuff is always an issue, not only for Bangladeshis but for most nations in the world (source: my research paper from last semester's World Religions class). my parents, for instance, would never agree but me, i could care less. mehh. p.s. i love uuuu Numby .. ummmmah .. that's what i've been trying to explain all along lol. ami post korar por dekhlam tumi amar agey post kore felso hehe. // |

| not embracing people of other cultures????We practically have adopted other cultures for our daily lives sis.
Interracial/faith marriages are not liked by everyone even by some liberals.Americans hate Arabs marrying their women and vice versa. We Bangladeshis are liberal and interfaith/racial marriages are getting more and more accepted here;I live here so I know.Although I hate interracial/faith marriages myself. | // LOL, see for urself what ur doing here. ahahahahhahahah. LOL.
first, Bangladesh is not a liberal country. are gay people supported in Bangladesh? how do people react to them? i don't think Bangladeshis think they r morally right cuz of religion nd bla bla. i won't be surprised to know ur personal take on that cuz i know for sure that u will say u don't like them. nd yet, u call Bangladesh a liberal country.
second, interfaith/interracial marriages. LOL, ur saying u hate those kinds of marriages nd on the other hand ur saying u or Bangladesh r not racists. strange. plz explain these confusing statements to me. well, i've never been to Netherlands myself nd u probably haven't either. so, basically none of us have the right to say things about their nation nd how their people r. let's not assume things without facts. // |

Quote: | // LOL, see for urself what ur doing here. ahahahahhahahah. LOL. | yes I am one in 150 million.Bangladesh overall is not racist.and I am not the government or the law or law enforcer or lawmaker or policy maker.
so if I hate such things it doesn't say anything about the situation in Bangladesh. In fact I somehow belong to the minority of the majority of this nation, which is largely liberal if not wholly.we are as liberal as any Asian country with conservative cultural traits can become. Quote: | are gay people supported in Bangladesh? | are they supported in other liberal nations too?The US?there are huge debates going on about these homosexuals and their rights.Only recently a bill was passed in the US Congress for them.
I believe other nations are having problems with them also, some liberal predominantly Christian nations with their church services especially. How about South Korea and US militarizes who don't allow homosexuals to apply?
I am assuming you live in Canada, where the situation is quite different for homosexuals I guess as Canada have provisions for homosexuals in their constitution ,or what? This is kind of going off-topic. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
