Sexual Harassment & Abuse - how to prevent ?

there are some people who bully others in the name of disciplining them.Since I have a whole bunch of such relatives bossing me around ever since I was orphaned I know what abuse means.There should be laws to ban psychological assault.
there should be punishment to bring this to a minimum to discourage it.

Sexual harassment/ abuse may never be eliminated. Human beings are inherently perverted, some more so than others.

What are the causes of child abuse?

No one has been able to predict which of these factors will cause someone to abuse a child. A significant factor is that abuse tends to be intergenerational – those who were abused as children are more likely to repeat the act when they become parents or caretakers.
In addition, many forms of child abuse arise from ignorance, isolation, or benign neglect. Sometimes a cultural tradition leads to abuse. For example, such beliefs as:

* Children are property.
* Parents (especially males) have the right to control their children in any way they wish.
* Children need to be toughened up to face the hardships of life.
* Girls need to be genitally mutilated to assure virginity and later marriage.

The motivations for rape are different and the same is applicable to sexual offenses of every nature.

Mishti bhai, If u want to create great fear , there isn't a nice harmless way of doing this.Sometimes u have to be brutal in order to save humanity.

The only thing left is prevention.You can try to prevent the crime but i don't know whether such criminal mentalities can be prevented. Proper education may save some souls, but those who are rotten, they are born rotten,no education can alter their mentality( i indirectly know a girl who is raped by his own bustard brother,just to mention that ******** brother is very well educated engineer).

I think the parents can be key factor.They should keep a tight watch(i know this wouldn't work) and they should teach their children not to trust anyone and to tell them every single thing happening with them.

I think it goes for everyone.

even though Bangladesh is a Muslim country, i feel that sex education is necessary cuz it is an unavoidable part of our lives.

what does the Muslim factor has got to do with anything? look at India ,even though there is so much sex related stuff in Hinduism ,sex education is not given in India.Just trying to make a point that religion has got nothing to do with this closeness of the society.

Tanna,do you agree with me that abusive parents/caretakers should be imprisoned for their actions?I think it's quite effective.educate the people first;if they don't listen arrest them when they break the law.

Yes, I agree completely. Doing so may never eliminate sex crimes completely but it's a step in the right direction.

Indeed, it is important that the fear of punishment is not the only measure to prevent sex abuse/ crimes. Only proper education, and measures that address the motivations for sex abuse may help to significantly bring down occurrences of such crimes.

i don't think a Muslim Imam would be comfortable in giving sex education to women now, would they? nd not only Muslim, but all religious leaders. most likely bolbe sex is 'napak', so let's not talk about it. nd this is exactly what is happening nowadays. i'm part of an online conference where we r trying to reach a solution to prevent HIV/AIDS problem in the world. oikhane our proposal was to educate religious leaders in order to get the message across that sex is the most common means of spreading HIV/AIDS nd people from Iran, China, Brazil, Russia, Australia nd even the US said that religious leaders would not be comfortable to talk about sex with the general public nd having said that ... i missed a point .. society sees sex as a bad thing .. usually a conservative society which Bangladesh is, am i right?
