Thinking : With or Without a language?

I recently noticed, when I think something, I whether think it in Bangla or else I think it in English. For example, suppose I am going somewhere and I am thinking, "deri hoye jacche!". or suppose I am standing in front of a DVD shop and I am thinking, "WoW! what a collection!". When I noticed this involvement of language, I tried to think something without any language, and I could not!

So, if we do need a language to think, dont babies think before they learn the language? or did the people back in stone ages never think anything because they were not using language to communicate with each other back then! thats not likely!

So what do you think? can you think without a language??? if not then how do you explain the baby and people of ancient age scenerio?

Both had their own language. Its impossible to think without a language.

A baby has a language? before he/she learns 'what is what'? how's that even possible?

I think you don't need a language to think, cause think about a person who is born deaf, blind...........

Muhahahhhaa, another chance to give a theory

I think it's all depend on the awakening of your conscience.And this awakening is related with aging process.After birth actually there is no difference between a baby and an animal because at that time babies only driven by the basic instincts(movie ta valoi chilo) ,and yeah i believe for a varried time range babies can't think.After getting habituated with the environment and the process of communication from the outside entities that certain part of their brain starts to develope,that is their ability to understand a verbal communication and so as their mental state of thinking.And if i have oberved it right then babies know languages long before they started to speak. So in my opinion when a baby acquires it's sense or conscinece to understand anything at that time the process of thinking automatically initiated.

i think everybody thinks, as in babies, early life form too but just not in language. in the form we are not really used to. Icy bhai jemon bolo. "own languge"

oi warm up ta amra bujhbo nah. cuz oyta language nah. their earlier form of recognition or communication.

ma ja shuney, boley, dekhey, baby ra o dekhey, boley, shunney. so jader probs nai, ora pick up korey early and think normally in their familar language.

but a baby who is born deaf. ora pick up kortey parey nah. in fact ora bujhey o nah that they r missing out on sumthing. kintu ono senses r functioning, and oi gulir signals tau brain ey jachey. oi bhabey pick up korey. so dekhey parey, feel kortey parey taste kortey parey but shuntey or kotha boltey parey nah. dekhey imitate kortey parey but really shobdo guli ki bujhey nah. and by then, family discovers, baby has a defiency and hoyto sign language shikhano shuru korey.

onek tough. jibon wud suck omney. kintu again... they r moving, they can feel nd sense.

I think Thinking is nothing but a series of Brain pulse pertaining to the Instinct at that instant. Now for a normal person that brian pulse is translated automatically into his or her mother tongue.But for a deaf person i think(i can only think) their brain pulse would be translated into something else(only they can say into what). For a deaf and blind person well the same assumption stands.

Yeah a neuroscientist would be helpful .
