(Excluding Elvis Presley, because, he was pretty much like what Paris Hilton is today.)
(More of an Icon than an artist.) (expressing my little bit of extremism there..)
(All BRITISH)
The Beatles
The Rolling Stones
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Deep Purple
The Who
Dire Straits
The Clash
Sex Pistols
Black Sabbath
iron maiden
On the other hand, only few notable Americans are: (to me) Jimi Hendrix
The Doors
The Ramones
Bob Dylan
Van Halen (if u like em)
And three contemporary bands , who are wowing me with their wonderful tune, poetic lyrics, and even their philosophy, political activism and so on and so forth : Radiohead (UK)
Coldplay (UK)
Sterepphonics (South Wales)
....................all freaking british (so much for co-incidence)
.....................................
(shudhu rock n roll er kotha bolchi... jazz and R&B te america always was best since the beginig.... but sheta american music bolar cheye afro-american bola uchit)

তবে i guess, i was trying to say that i got a thing for the british music culture, (since the beginning of the rock n roll era), and some other european cultural movements ...
আমার বোধহয় thread এর বদলে blog খোলা উচিত ছিল এ বিষয়ে ---
glad to see someone seeking a point of the therad ,though... ধন্যবাদ ।
আপনার কি মনে হয় ? আমার ত ভাই আসলেই মনে হয় british দের contribution , american দের চাইতে অনেক বেশি .,,, ( rock music এ at least ) |

coincidence nah boss... its history. lolz
rejected runaway europeans settled in america. lolz well some ppl willingly came but thats not the point. hehe
so obviously europe r beshi experience thakbey, originality thakbey. boltey galley ora pioneers of rock. and many other things. cuz they started it and they have more famous names..
r america shobshumoy oder thikhey better hoytey chai, oder thikhey seperate thaktey chai. they achieve that by other ways...
like u mentioned... over promoting... marketing it like crazy. jeno normal masses ra oder gaan ee shuney... cuz thats wats available and thats wat they like to see.
kintu jader aru beshi knowledge thakbey. obviously oder k sell korley ee ki ya nah korleyi ki they kno wats gud music and wats just a glam sham vanity affair.
hehe
interesting topic. kintu aru dig jodi koren u will discover other cultures are pioneers of many things as well. kintu ora exposure pai nah. i feel a lot of the original things are disappearing cuz of pop culture loving ignorant ppl.

america's got the all the labels / production houses,, they know how to marketize, industrialize, iconize , and how to convert the sense of "art" into a "product" .. where as british people are more like the creative BUMs, যাদের business sense is way too less..

though i think there is a small BUT...wht do u think those great rock bands..which had the production contract from american houses?? im sure u still listen to those...to me it depends somewhere...u need to have somethin from the artist as well...is he capable enough?? to buzz ur ear at least for few decades...
i think music and promotin music in the sense of givin them right exposure would lead to some optimal performance..some age wininin master pieces...it its not..its gone!!! | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
