Lets Stand Beside the Flood Victims of Bangladesh

<b>We all are aware of the fact that the flood situation in Bangladesh is rather bleak. Hundreds of people all over the country are drowned in flood water. The Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre in Dhaka said the situation in the northern districts would continue to get worse in a few days.

Despite the fact that many of us are already engaged in supporting the flood victims in different capacities and in different forms. Golpo Community has taken an initiative to support the cause. Given the fact that this initiative is a symbolic expression of our solidarity to the ongoing national crisis and to stand by the affected people of Bangladesh. However, An un-official get together will be arranged by Golpo, where the members can donate money as much as they can. Afterwards, the total amount of money will be submitted in "Prothom Alo's Fund".

To add some points, collecting only money will work out the best in this case, as carrying clothes, medicine or other things will create a hassle. But still if someone wants to bring clothes or medicine then they may. Finally, all members are requested to inform their friends, relatives and family so that they can as well donate money and be a big help.

Lastly we have to use a personal bank account because of some unavoidable problem and lack of time. We are sorry for this inconvenience. We will update all the calculation details regarding the donation in this thread.

Many of us might think flood water is going down and the problem will be solved, but the main problem starts after the water goes down. Waterborne, skin and respiratory diseases spread like epidemic. About 500,000 hectares of standing crops were partially or completely destroyed and the farmers need to start over again.

Everyone should try to help. If possible we have to cut some of our expenses and help these people. We can ask our friends, family and neighbors. Now they might not know about Golpo.net, so we can tell them that we are collecting funds to donate in "Prothom-Alo's Tran Tohobil".

People want to help but sometimes they are lazy or not aware of the donation process, so if we do a part of their job they will be happy to donate. Its not possible for 1-2 people alone, but if we all try we can do it.

If possible, please explain more on the procedure of depositing money in a bank account 'cause i believe there are many who havent done that before.

Firstly why "Rajshahi Main Branch" is written ? Does that mean money can be given in only the mentioned branch or it can be given from anywhere else.

The information given on the account - "account holder name, account number" - is that just enough info to deposit money in an account? etc.....

Ok am confuse about sending money...why can't I simply send moone gram..it's convinient for me. Just giv me a realiable person name who can provide his/her passport to pick up the money. I think moneygram diye pathale easyly receive kora jabe....any thought?

The best way to send money from abroad is through PayPal , you just need a major credit card (visa, master card, etc) or bank account to donate. Even if you don't want to register for a free PayPal account, you can just give the credit card information. I suggest signing up for a free PayPal account. I will also use it to donate money. Its secure and safe. The account receiving the money is verified and the credit card number is protected. The person receiving it does not see it.

If anyone in Canada wants to donate money, but having problem sending it please contact me.

Icy bhai will be giving out further information on the Bank Account. Anyone from any Bangladeshi bank can transfer money to that Account.
