~ lol .. tell me about it .. teeheehee ..

hmm .. i was born in Bangladesh like all the other folks here .. nd i came to Canada when i was 11 years old ..
my feelings about Bangladeshi nd Canadian culture is quite mixed actually ..

one of the main drawbacks of Bengali culture is that .. Bengali parents r too conservative sometimes (though mine aren't .. that much) .. mine r just too overprotective sometimes .. i wasn't allowed to go anywhere before (it would piss me off .. but i gave my parents time nd space instead of arguing) .. the first party i ever went to (only friends) .. was this January actually .. nd i'm 18 .. so yea .. even though i live in Canada .. my parents didn't change as much .. until like a few months back (just the me going out part .. ) ..

i think that i'm part of both cultures .. more Bangladeshi i suppose .. but the last time i went back to Bangladesh i honestly felt that i won't be accepted there like i'm accepted here (my mom thinks that too) .. people r just somewhat different .. maybe it's just cuz of the gap that i had in between .. not really sure ..

i think my Bangla is pretty good .. though sometimes it's quite hard for me to read it .. cuz i don't read Bangla at all .. i can write too .. but i make a lottt of spelling mistakes .. lol .. mehhh .. now i don't even care anymore ..

lastly, i feel that whatever i know about my culture is enough .. nd i kinda like living in this mixed range .. this way .. my views about certain things r not biased .. unlike some people .. nd i like it that way .. i think people should accept things even though they r sometimes a bit different .. or new .. but that's the part when i have problems with my parents .. cuz they think in a more conservative way ..
even though we have clashing views .. i'm still glad that we have great communication between us ..

p.s. i'm TOTALLY into BANGALI FOOD! nd my bf calls me BANGLISH .. lol .. he's pure Bangladeshi by the way .. living in BD .. so i guess i haven't really lost touch with my culture yet .. i hope i never do
