Rangamati- The City of Lake



From Chittagong, a 77 km winding road that passes through lush green fields and forested hills take you to Rangamati at the heart of the lake district. It is also the headquarter of the Rangamati hill district.



The township is located on the western bank of Kaptai Lake. Rangamati is a favourite holiday resort because of its scenic beauty and its lakeside location, its colourful tribes, homespun textile products, ivory and jewellery.



You can find there tirbal peoples from Chakma, Bome, Chak, Khumi, Kheyang, Lusai, Mo, Murang, Panku, Santal, Manipuri.









Tribal Museum : The only Tribal Cultural Museum in the Hill Tracts region was established at Rangamati town in 1978 and run by the Tribal Cultural Institute. It preserves valuable objects and articles of different tribes depicting their socio-economic, cultural and historical tradition. These include typical tribal dresses, ornaments, arms and ammunitions, coins, statues made of wood, bronze and other metals, musical instruments, ivory products, handicrafts, paintings on tribal life etc. Open: Saturday- Thursday, 10.00 a.m.- 4.00 p.m. Closed: Friday & Public Holidys. Admiddion is free.

Kaptai lake : The Kaptai lake is a wonderful spot for boating and cruising. Parjatan and private operators offer a number of cruises by mechanical boats. One can go to various scenic spots in Shuvalong, Barkal, Longadu, Mainimukh and other areas by boat from Rangamati.

There is a hanging bridge over lake kaptai in rangamati...you can have some real fun over there..!!

The main attraction of Rangamati is hanging bridge over kaptai lake,hill tracks,tribal museum,kaptai lake, tribal village and tribal life style.







How to get there:

Rangamati is connected with Chittagong by high standard road network.From chittagong you have to go to Muradpur bus terminal(ask any rickshaw puller or taxi for it). You will find there a lots of bus going to rangamati.

Amar kache bd er best jayga Rangamati. Went there like 3yrs ago. Amra bhul e first e kaptai chole gesilam, then kaptai theke rangamati jai abar. Kaptai jabar & kaptai theke ashar bus ride ami kokhono bhulbo na. Pahar & pani, the whole thing had e surreal feeling. Bole bujhano jabe na ashole. But ei summer e arekbar jawar plan ase. Dekhi jete pari naki.
