Default How come guests have acess to almost EVERY section of the forum?

I'd like to address this issue which really bugs me. How come Guests have access to almost EVERY section of this forum..including personal sections such as our BLOGS?! Ei jinish ta amar kache weird laage je some totally UNKNOWN STRANGER is reading our blog entries. Sure, we members don't always know each other personally but being fellow members of the Golpo community, we are at least aware that whoever's reading my blog, be it Hellzpori or Anikaputush or Dead_Eyez, they are a member like me.

This is not the same for Guests. Sections like Gossip, Blogs, User Showcase should be only viewable by registered members of Golpo and ONLY to them. Ami ektu aage chomkay gesi jokhon amar chena ekjon MSN-e eshe amake bollo shey Golpor ekjon Guest ebong shey Blogs section-e bhaloi regular. WHAT THE HELL???! :yikes:

Imagine that Gossip members. Amra amader onek kichui eikhane likhi thinking eita to just amra amrai! Blog-e ekshota jinish likhi..Debate section-e amader opinions share kori. Gossip section e Post Your Pic e nijeder pic post kori. Eshob GUEST ra keno dekhte parbe?! Personal info to members chhara ar karo dekhte pawa thik na. I'd like to request the Golpo staffs and admins to STOP giving all over acess to Guests. Thanx

Good question Gemini. It's not hard for anybody to register and see those forums/topics though. All they need is an email address. So even if we restricted those forums and/or topics from guests; does it really matter? We always care for member's privacy. We've installed a standalone blog product where members can restrict the access for guests by themselves. We have always encouraged members to use attachment option for posting their pictures. Anyway last but not least; I think either in this community or Facebook like social networking site; nobody should share anything EXTREMELY personal. Another thing is; a person who entertains him/herself regularly by reading someone's blog; should have minimum courtesy to give at least some appreciation to that member and register in this community.

Normally the difference between a member and a guest in case of forum restrictions is about 1 min (time to register and get the same access). Such a short period of time is not a practical solution to stop a guest from viewing a thread.

We can restrict members by specifying minimum number of posts to view a subforum. But if a new user is that desperate they can kinda spam and reach that in no time.

In the "standalone blog" you have the full control over the privacy matter. You can even restrict your blog content just to your contacts that means a member who is not in your contact list will not have access to your blog. The option to do it is in the blog control panel.

Nothing can be done about the privacy of the "forum blog" due to it's structural limitations and issues discussed above.

We understand your concern about privacy but as you can see considering everything this is the best we can offer right now. But feel free to drop any suggestion regarding this matter.

i totally agree about privacy. guests should have limited access. i'm not worried about blogs though . i'm pretty sure ami eikhane blog khulle guests durey thak member rao porbe na ... ami nijei toh porbo na maybe... i'm not a blogging type of guy. but tao dekhi in future blogging start korte pari. anywayz... so far i'm liking everything about this forum... in fact i'm liking it so much that i might be around to bug u nice ppl for a long long time

jai hok... the privacy features currently active in the forum are pretty satisfactory... just dont pour ur entire heart out in the blogs and u should be fine.
