yesterday i lose more than 3 hrs by usin sfc/scannow...nothin bcomes alright.

i installed OS twice..another wastage of time.

no improvement.
firewall use kortam. AVG . i suspect it failed. any suggestion ?

1. If i click on C: or D: or E: i mean drive icons nothin happens.

Before Install OS u have to format C drive.(xpr boot able cd te formating utility asa) After installing xp, Install ur Anti virus and update it and off course scan ur computer. Before sacaning and cleaning the virus never Click on any other drive(D:, E: etc), If u click on them the virus will again attack u!
What if ur Anti-virus is in other drive? If u r sure that this virus don't infect ur .exe files then run the anti-virus setup from command prompt(hope u will be able to do that ) and if u r not sure then only solution is "U have to buy an anti-virus cd"!

Junkviper bro , I am just listening this kinda problem from one of senior bros. I am trying to solving it . I hope , I will be able to give you a solution other than format + re install OS.

just check one thing , do you have any process running in task manager named "svhost" ?? [ task manager = alt + ctrl + del , then click process tab]

to get rid of this worm i did the followin tthings: (thanx to Serial_killer)

1. first of all open task manager by pressin CTRL+ALT+DEL.
2. find out net.exe or net1.exe (i think this process was utilizin my cpu unnecessarily)

3. Terminated svhost.exe (NOT svchost.exe (5 instances))
4. search the PC for svhost.exe . delete all the entities found.
5. Run an av in Safe mode (restart+ F8)

still I hav a lil bit prob. but hope that sfc will do the rest.

[this is just what i did. KASPERSKY use korlam shesh porjonto n it did a gr8 job by identifyin the infected files! ]
