GOOD ISP in DHAKA

2 days ago i collected a lot of phone numbers of many isps and the next them i tried to talk to them. most of them said" we dont provide to home users, only corporate." some other said," sorry, we don;t hav any corporate client in ur area so we can't giv any line to u!!" well that tells u they giv bandwidth to big corporates and then sneak a line to a nearby home user from the same bandwidth capacity. The other ones said that their line charge is 1500tk and installation charge is 5000tk!! or more. i don't get it. after the so called submarine cable crap they hav suddenly increased their installation charge but providing the same speed and equipments!!. i only found one isp called dhakacitynet who said no installation ,no connectoin fees, only 1000tk per month with vOIP and other things. i am not sure abt thier speed , they said it;s 5KB/s but u will get enough speed to hav voice chats. but unfortunately they only provide in the dhanmondi area so i could do anything .
i wud like to hav a connection with speed like Dying soul.bro if u changed ur connection last month y didn't u let me knw(!!!!).. i wud hav also taken the same connection...( )

mak4bd ...did I told my frnd paid 7000 ? I guess not .... He got the line for different reasons ...he paid only 1500.

Any way , My point of view is something diff. I am not talking about the speed. Theres a std price of b/w . You cant ignore them. In VSAT era , 4KBPS up/down costs BDT almost 1000. So how could you expect one ISP providing you 4 KBPS less than 1200 [atleast]. If you are not taking the dedicated , then use some share. Shared line sometime getsthe b/w stress.

All I wanted to tell, its the management of ISP and structure. Same 4 KBPS b/w can be served in better way by better ISPs. I used dekko for many dayz , they had servers down many times.Right now using MB , they r worst technically . They made their vsat back up server , putting off their live server. So , its the matter of ISP skill and management. and in that aspect , so far i know , ZIP is great.

well now the 1mbsp bandwidth costs abt 1000dollars, which is like 72000tk. so if u calculate it takes 281.25 tk for 4kbps. as isp in our country t not huge telecoms , so called agent(dalal) they can more 1000tk . wow isn't that gr8. though they can't giv me connectoins with an insallation charge of 1000atleast. i think i am saying is i don't really hav any prob paying them the money. but they should serve me accordingly to the money which they rn't doing.
well serial no offense bro but ur frd got the line in someway !! well that's the prob. a lot of ppl manage lines and be content with that but that won't do any good to the internet users on BD. imagine if u just hangaround here without anyone is that fun at all. in foreign countries they take satelite tv connectoin for more than 8-10 USD. here it's maximum 400tk. if that's possible then it's also possible to provide connectoins not cheaply but atleast at a standard speed.there has to be a symontinuos balance between rate and speed. if that's not maintaied then customers rn't happy . that's wat happening in bd. plus they ignore the home users.is that right?

I will not talk of what you can get abroad.

It is almost impossible nowadays, to get a good shared connection. Unless your ISP has very few users, you will be stuck at slow speeds. How slow ? That would depend on the connection your ISP has chosen and the number of users online.

My ISP uses a bandwidth monitor/manager. Which is a good thing, or else i would have got even slower speed when someone would be multi-threading.

MAK, if you need good speeds, only way is dedicated connections : ) ..

hmm.. darkcrunk told sumting i m gonna tell.

MAK its only dedicated that can give you total comfort. Shared is good for low number of clients or odd time like deep night , early morning when you can get hell of speed. otherwise rest of the pretty normal and sumtimes too slow .

you can try something like "canopy" , ZIP , dekkos can give you wireless home service.

Anyway govt. has passed plan for tnt internet serivce. According to this project , tnt will provide 64kbps in 500 bdt. Awesome but you know...its govt project ... so I wish next generation would be able to see it...no chance of mine :P

at least 1ta switch/hub e to connected thaktei hobe..bt usually ki hoy..? server theke basha porjonto ashte rastay 2/3ta switch/hub use korte hoy due to distance..n ei ta te kicu ta holeo data lose hoy..i was talkin abt that..though ei lose ta feel korar moto noy..bt tarporeo..ei distance ta cover korar jonno je cable ta use kora hoy..oi ta jodi somehow get leaked..tahole ei lose ta onek hoy..
i faced the same problem wid my previous line..line chere debar pore amake amar cable dekhano hoyecilo..(as i had a good relation wid them)

they r runnin an office n luckily i got a connection from them..bt i talked wid them..they also provide connections in motijhil areas..not sure je gulshan2 area te provide kore ki na..

ahh... I got that ....

hmm usually better networks try to push single hub/switch connection bwten client and server. Besides , using hub sometiems creating problem as its not as much intelligent device as switch. sometime tries to broadcast /distribute the whole b/w equally to each node .... not try to understand the request type. and then another factor of collision domain on/off. so I would go for switch. My ISP use all switches , no hub.

and about leakage of wire....its totally horrible. You cant use line for 1 sec if you have corrupted LAN. Packet drop is something worse. Its actually creates serious collision in whole network , hang the gateway server. so direct or indriect connection , leakage in wire is something most problematic..... any leakage in wire makes the line worst .......

and talking about wire quality .... old dayz have gone. No isp [at least so far I know ] is dare to enlarge their network with cheap telephone cable...their first choice is UTPs liek cat5 or cat6.
