Windows XP - RAW File System Problem

helloo....i have a 40 GB HDD...n OS is Windows XP...it was working fine...2 days back it suddenly stopped booting....showing error "Error loading boot.ini"....then i tried to reinstall xp but it was showing a blue screen error msg "bad_pool_header".....

so i put the HDD as slave in another pc n get to see that 3 drives out of 5 was corrupted...i mean...C, D , E drive was visible but not accessible. rest F, G drive was ok n all the data's in F, G were fine.

C, D, E drive file system was showing as "RAW" file system rather then "FAT32" file system n drive size was showing "0 bytes"....although i had a lot of important files in those drives such as D, E drive.

now can anyone help me out....is there any way to retrieve those data's from this drives, C, D, E...?!.....how can i recover data from RAW file system...!

P.S: when i put the corrupted HDD as slave in another pc..the pc got really show....this pc's OS is also XP....

hmm.. Bad news for you. So far I think , its a physical damage of HDD. Its can not be repaired..or very little chance of recovering data.

there are some most trivial chance of recovery . Some people are replacing things like disc controllers...if you are lucky enough, then you might lose those repairable parts. Visit Elephant road shops for details... I guess you are in dhaka.

btw ..I am going to make some google for you query..if I can find something interesting, I am going to post that.

be sure that..on the fly u had power failure or odd powerfailur...
most prolly partition loats its intigrity.......
hopefully ur hdd is okay..u need to re-partitioning ur hdd n reload win etc etc

yo guyz....guess wht....i put the hdd as slave on win2000.....it din worked...thn in'nother pc of win98....n wallah@^%#!!....all the 5 drives r accessable...now m takin backup from thouse drives...c....d......e.....f.....g......

in win98 the file system is showin as fat32....but in xp or 2000 its showing as raw....neway.....i'll backup the files......thn i'll try to do scandisk on thm....format c....will try2 install xp....if not 98....still if it doesn't workz...thn hv2 do break the partitionz n do it again.....
