Bangladesh Taka may be made in India

Kolkata: The Bangladesh taka may soon be manufactured in India. While the stainless steel coin blank will be supplied by Steel Authority of India, the taka coins will be minted by a wing of the Reserve Bank of India.

The Salem Steel Plant, a significant player in the domestic market for production of stainless steel coin blank, has joined hands with the RBI's Calcutta Mint for this purpose.

In fact, Salem Steel and Calcutta Mint have jointly participated in a recent tender floated by the Bangladesh government for production of currency coins.

Yes, i believe it is true. the new notes are in Bangladesh already and are being circulated in 9 or 8 branches of Bangladesh Bank. the treasury dept. plans to remove old notes within 2007 ..

since the price of nickel has multiplied 10 times, we didnt produce any 5 taka coins this time.. thus, you are gonna find a LOT of 5 taka notes in the markets soon
