Language Movement veteran dies Quote: Language Movement veteran and journalist Fazlul Karim died from cancer Saturday at the age of 79, his family said.
Karim had been jailed for taking part in the 1952 Language Movement when he was a student of Chaumohoni College in Noakhali. 
Shahriar Karim, his only son, works for BBC World Service. Karim also left behind his wife and two daughters.
Karim's family said he would be buried in the Banani graveyard after his namaz-e-janaza at the National Press Club Sunday.
Karim had worked for the now-defunct Bangla-language daily Dainik Bangla as city editor.
Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, Mohammad Toha, Shamsul Haque, Munier Chowdhury, Ajit Kumar Guha and Oli Ahad were behind bars with him during the Language Movement.
He wrote Bayannor Karagar, a semi-autobiographical book that reflects on the Language Movement. He is also an author of Sangsad Reporting and Phul Phol Tarulata.
BNP leaders Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan and Khandaker Delwar Hossain expressed condolences for the family in separate statements.
